As Unemployment Rises, So Should Small Business

There will be great business opportunities present as unemployment rises in the United States. Currently, the U.S. unemployment rate is above 10% but the actual percentage of those without a job is actually much higher. The unemployment picture will likely remain unchanged for the next year.

Most jobs that were lost are gone forever. If you think companies will re-hire massive amounts of people, think again. Any improvement will not come from large business.

The only way to cure the employment crises in the United States is to formulate small business on a big scale. If you worked in IT, manufacturing or administrative areas, your job was likely sent overseas or replaced by a machine.

You can still transfer those skills to your own business. There is always a demand for you if you have a trade or a skill that can help others. Also, being small means you can be faster and more flexible than larger corporations.

Starting a Business is Easy… But Only In America

Starting a business in America is a fairly easy process compared to other countries. For a few hundred dollars and very little paperwork most people can open a business in any state in the US.  A lot of people take this privilege for granted.

In some other countries, starting a business can be a very expensive and tedious process, requiring various licenses and the involvement of multiple government agencies. Take Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha for example. He was surprised to learn that starting a business in his country required 17 government permits. Bulgaria simplified the process and opened the doors to a new growing sector in their economy.

Why not start your own business? If you have a skill, trade, or expertise in any area, you can become an independent contractor and offer your services to other businesses. With an economy like ours in the U.S. it may be beneficial to have a business on the side, just to supplement your income from your everyday job. Now is the time to start that home based business or online business.  Take advantage of the freedom we enjoy in this country and embrace your entrepreneurial spirit.
