What motivates buyers? Whenever we try to sell our product or service, most of us focus on why our company is superior to others. Well, customers don’t care about you or your company. People are only interested in what can benefit them.

People are usually motivated by 4 dominant buying factors:

1. Pride-People want to look good in front of others. We want to be envied, admire, and feel accomplished.

2. Profit-We buy assets to be rewarded financially.

3. Pleasure – We want to enjoy a better lifestyle, upgrade our living conditions and have fun.

4. Peace – We want security and freedom.  Peace of mind and insurance against potential loss.

These are the 4 basic motives that drive purchasing decisions. You need to know what dominant buying motives drive your customer’s decisions, so you can better help them.
